The commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance is corollary to Shaktiman’s strong ethical CSR values, and part of the journey to sustainability. We are aware of global issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, deforestation, pollution, water scarcity, resource depletion, waste production, overpopulation, etc. and the great challenges and efforts necessary to overcome them.
Our policies and business practices aim at making our planet a better place for future generations by means of sustainable development in the first place. This means sustainable processes and achievements necessary on the journey to achieve the overall long-term sustainability goal on a global scale.
Here are a few measures we have recently adopted on our way to carbon neutrality:
Renewable Energies
Over the last years, we have been able to significantly decrease our CO2 emissions by reducing the overall energy consumption through more efficient energy management in all plants. In addition, the introduction of solar and wind power covered 19% and 31%, respectively, of our energy needs. Total CO2 emissions saved till January 2024 was about 54%. Our goal in terms of carbon neutrality is to achieve 80% of emission savings by 2030.
Water neutrality
Whilst the overall water consumption has increased over recent years due to expanded production capacities, Shaktiman has achieved around 62% of water savings. The adoption of best practices in energy management has made this possible. 50% of the water has come from rainwater harvesting. In addition, about 11% of the wastewater was recycled and reused through STP and ETP treatment plants. Our goal is to reach 80% water neutrality by 2030.
